Free Swap Olympics

Unless you’re Michael Phelps or Chris Hoy - they now have 27 between them - winning an Olympic gold is quite a rare thing. More often than not, it’s a once in a lifetime thing.

We might have the next Usain Bolt somewhere in our worldwide community, but we don’t have any golds just yet.

So to remedy that we are filling up our #FreeSwapOlympics jar with a gold medal every time a WeSwap currency wins one.

And TODAY (Friday 26th August) those gold medals will turn into free swaps for you guys to win! Here are the T&Cs

In short, it's a good thing when countries that use any of these currencies win:

British Pounds (GBP), US Dollars (USD), Euros (EUR), Canadian Dollars (CAD), Australian Dollars (AUD), South African Rand (ZAR), Swiss Francs (CHF), Norwegian Kroner (NOK), Swedish Kronor (SEK), Danish Kroner (DKK), Hong Kong Dollars (HKD) , Polish Zlotys (PLN), New Zealand Dollars (NZD), Singaporean Dollars (SGD) , Hungarian Forint (HUF), Japanese Yen (JPY), Israeli Shekel (ILS), Turkish Lira (TRY).

We'd love to see the Refugee team win gold too and will, of course, add an extra free swap to the jar if they do!

Track (and field) our progress on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to get involved in all the fun.

We’re super keen this time around because in London 2012 we weren’t even an official thing. Now we are nearly 200,000.

Story So Far

Singapore won their first ever Olympic swimming medal and thankfully for all of us WeSwappers - it was gold. Joseph Schooling didn't simply win a gold though - he beat his boyhood idol and the greatest Olympian in history, Michael Phelps in doing it. Worth a Google.

Shout-outs to Poland (Zolty), Czech Republic (Euro), and South Africa (Rand) for earning us all free swaps too. Especially South African athlete Wayde van Niekerk who smashed a World Record that had stood since 1999 to win the 400m!

Only five days in and plenty of golds for WeSwappers to enjoy so far... 43 to be exact.

The US athletes are doing the $$$ proud and have already bagged a whopping 11 golds, the Hungarian Forint has five wins so far and a monster ride from retiring Swiss cyclist Fabian Cancellarain saw the Swiss Franc secure us another gold.

Slovenia and Kosovo are flying the Euro flag with distinction too

After the dust settled on a spectacular opening ceremony, it was time to get to business.

Celebrations straight away as American shooter Ginny Thrasher won the first gold of the Olympic Games. One event. One Gold. One free swap for WeSwappers.

And there was more of the same over the weekend including two golds from Hungary - we do the Forint remember - three golds from the Aussies, and Team GB's first from swimmer Adam Peaty.

15 golds, and counting.
